Prior to founding Alphi, Thecla was a member of the investment team at Birch Hill Equity Partners, a leading Canadian mid-market private equity firm from 2004 to 2022 focused on investments in the consumer, healthcare and telecom industries. In the 12 years that Thecla was a Partner, she spent the last four as an Operating Partner and as CEO of one of the private equity firm’s portfolio companies leading its successful turnaround – both cultural and financial.
Prior to joining her former firm, Thecla worked on the start-up of Porter Airlines, was a consultant at Bain & Company and spent three years in the Chairman’s Office of George Weston Limited.
Thecla received her MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario where she graduated as an Ivey Scholar and her BA (Honours) from the University of Western Ontario.
Thecla serves on the board of Restaurant Brands International and Dollarama.
Prior to founding Alphi, Andrew was a member of the investment team at Birch Hill Equity Partners, a leading Canadian mid-market private equity firm from 2011 to 2022 focusing primarily on business services investments. He has supervised and sold numerous companies over the last decade. Prior to moving back to Canada, he was a member of the private equity team at the Audax Group in Boston. Previously, Andrew started his career as an analyst in the M&A group at Morgan Stanley.
Andrew received his MBA from Harvard Business School and his HBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.
Prior to joining Alphi, Elaine worked at Northleaf Capital Partners. She joined in 2004 when the group was still part of TD Capital. Northleaf is a global private markets investment firm focused on mid-market companies and assets in private equity, infrastructure and private debt. At Northleaf, Elaine was involved in all aspects of Northleaf’s investment, business development and investor relations activities.
Prior to joining Northleaf, Elaine worked at AOL Time Warner in corporate development and partner marketing where she focused on acquisitions and subscriber partnerships. Previously, Elaine was a management consultant at Bain & Company where she worked on a variety of strategy assignments including private equity, telecommunications, Internet-related and financial services cases.
Elaine received her MBA and her HBA with distinction from the Richard Ivey School of Business, Western University.
Daniella is a seasoned financial professional with a wealth of experience in the industry. Before joining Alphi, she was Vice President, Finance at Crown Capital Partners, a public-private capital provider, from 2018 to 2023. In this role, Daniella was involved in overseeing all aspects of the finance function of Crown Capital Partners and its portfolio companies, and providing portfolio management and investment support.
Daniella’s career began at KPMG LLP, where she worked in the financial services audit practice.
Daniella received her Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto and holds the CPA, CA designation. Daniella’s educational background and professional experience make her a valuable addition to the Alphi team, bringing with her a wealth of financial expertise and a proven track record in the world of finance and private equity.
Nicole is a Vice President at Alphi Capital and is actively involved with the firm’s investing and portfolio company value creation activities.
Prior to joining Alphi, Nicole was a strategic finance and operations lead at Cohere, a prominent AI-focused technology company. Prior to that, she was an associate at Birch Hill from 2019 to 2021, where she worked on investments across the industrials and aviation space.
Nicole started her career as an investment banking analyst at Goldman Sachs in Toronto, where she worked on a number of M&A and capital markets transactions across diversified industries.
Nicole earned her Bachelor of Commerce from Queen’s University (First Class Honours).
Kyle is an Associate at Alphi and is actively involved with new deal screening, transaction execution, and portfolio company value creation.
Prior to joining Alphi, Kyle was an Investment Banking Associate at BMO Capital Markets on the financial institutions coverage team. During his time at BMO, Kyle was involved with several successful transactions across M&A, equity and debt financings.
Kyle started his career at Ernst & Young in the audit practice before moving to the transaction diligence team where he provided buy and sell-side financial due diligence services across a variety of industries, including retail, healthcare and industrials.
Kyle holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from McMaster University and is a Chartered Professional Accountant.

Jim Rudyk is the Chief Financial Officer of Ag Growth International Inc. (“AGI”) where he is responsible for finance, accounting, business intelligence and information technology. Mr. Rudyk is a seasoned executive with more than 25 years of financial and operational experience, and a track record of supporting ambitious growth plans. Prior to joining AGI, Mr. Rudyk served as the CFO of Sofina Foods Inc. and was the CFO of Roots Corporation, where he helped the company grow and transition from a family-led organization to a Canadian public company.
Jim also served as the CFO of Shred-It International Inc. from 2009 to 2015, where he was instrumental in helping the company grow from approximately $200 million to over $700 million in revenue and expand to more than 17 countries around the world.
Mark Girvan is a global leader recognized for delivering impact at the intersection of Software as a Service, Fintech, and scale-up best practices. Mark prides himself on being a results-oriented leader who focuses on operational excellence through developing teams and motivating change across functional groups. Mark currently serves as President of FreshBooks, In this role he is responsible for the delivery of revenue, product roadmap, and operational enablement in support of FreshBooks customers in 160 different countries.
Before joining FreshBooks. Mark was VP of Sales and Field Operations at Varicent Software which was acquired by IBM in 2012. Mark earned an Economics degree from Queen's University and an MBA from The Ivey School of Business.
Rick has almost 25 years experience helping companies use data and analytics to make better decisions. Most recently he has held leadership positions at Rogers Sports & Media, Integrate AI, and Facebook (Meta) and is currently a fractional data leader and advisor for several organizations in the sports, entertainment, education and wellness industries. Rick lives in Toronto with his wife and two daughters.
Rob Chafee has helped grow and develop numerous small Canadian businesses as well as a significant investor in a vast array of individual private and public companies. He started his career in construction equipment sales where he became the top sales agent for Bobcat Loaders and excavators at Matthews Equipment in Toronto prior to its sale to Hertz Equipment Rental Corp.
Following this sale, he acquired and grew Skyway Canada from being a local construction equipment rental business focusing on scaffolding, shoring, and swing stage rentals to being the national leader in rentals, labour, and resource management. Skyway grew to well over 800 employees with a top roster of clients from construction, film, government, and oil & gas.
After successfully transitioning Skyway from a privately held firm to private equity he transitioned to battery recycling at Tonolli Canada. One of only two full-service lead acid battery recycling facilities remaining in Canada, Tonolli was to become the most environmentally friendly as well as lowest cost battery recycling facility in North America. Rob was able to merge Tonolli with Terrapure Environmental where he remains a meaningful shareholder and board member.
