Chelsea is an Executive Assistant at Alphi Capital, where she supports operations, event planning, and projects across the firm, working closely with leadership to keep things running smoothly day to day.
Before joining Alphi Capital, Chelsea spent 6+ years as an Executive Assistant at a real estate investment firm, supporting the CEO and COO with calendar management, communications, and key initiatives. She also co-chaired the firm's Women's Committee, helping lead volunteer programs, a mentorship program, and mental health advocacy efforts, reflecting her deep commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace culture.
Chelsea holds a Certificate in General Arts and Science from Centennial College.
Kyle is a Senior Associate at Alphi and is actively involved with new deal screening, transaction execution, and portfolio company value creation.
Prior to joining Alphi, Kyle was an Investment Banking Associate at BMO Capital Markets on the financial institutions coverage team. During his time at BMO, Kyle was involved with several successful transactions across M&A, equity and debt financings.
Kyle started his career at Ernst & Young in the audit practice before moving to the transaction diligence team where he provided buy and sell-side financial due diligence services across a variety of industries, including retail, healthcare and industrials.
Kyle holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from McMaster University and is a Chartered Professional Accountant.
Prior to founding Alphi, Andrew was a member of the investment team at Birch Hill Equity Partners, a leading Canadian mid-market private equity firm from 2011 to 2022 focusing primarily on business services investments. He has supervised and sold numerous companies over the last decade. Prior to moving back to Canada, he was a member of the private equity team at the Audax Group in Boston. Previously, Andrew started his career as an analyst in the M&A group at Morgan Stanley.
Andrew received his MBA from Harvard Business School and his HBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.
Daniella is a seasoned financial professional with a wealth of experience in the industry. Before joining Alphi, she was Vice President, Finance at Crown Capital Partners, a public-private capital provider, from 2018 to 2023. In this role, Daniella was involved in overseeing all aspects of the finance function of Crown Capital Partners and its portfolio companies, and providing portfolio management and investment support.
Daniella’s career began at KPMG LLP, where she worked in the financial services audit practice.
Daniella received her Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto and holds the CPA, CA designation. Daniella’s educational background and professional experience make her a valuable addition to the Alphi team, bringing with her a wealth of financial expertise and a proven track record in the world of finance and private equity.
Sue is Director of Human Capital at Alphi, where she partners with portfolio companies to help build high-performing organizations through strong leadership, culture, talent, and people strategies. She brings more than 20 years of executive leadership experience, including serving as CEO of Motion, one of Canada's leading mobility and home accessibility companies. Sue is passionate about helping leaders unlock the potential of their people to drive sustainable growth and lasting business success.
Sue holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University and is a Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL).
Andrey is a Data Insights Associate at Alphi Capital, where he leverages data and analytics to drive value creation and operational efficiency across the firm’s portfolio companies.
Prior to joining Alphi, Andrey led analytics at Reunion, a Toronto-based boutique strategy consulting firm. In this role, he worked closely with executive teams across several industries to build dynamic data stories that created strategic momentum around brand and customer.
In past roles, Andrey also developed innovative ESG reporting solutions that supported clients in navigating evolving regulatory landscapes.
Andrey holds a Master of Science in Management from the Ivey Business School and a Bachelor of Engineering Science in Chemical Engineering from Western University.
Brian is a Finance Manager at Alphi Capital and supports the finance function across all levels of the organization.
Prior to joining Alphi, Brian was a Senior Financial Analyst at Richardson Wealth Limited, where he was involved in complex accounting, corporate tax, and financial reporting functions. During his time there, he helped implement operational improvements and led new initiatives to enhance financial insights. Brian started his career at EY LLP, where he worked in the financial services audit practice with a focus on insurance, asset management, and funds.
Brian received his Bachelor of Business Management and Organizational Studies from the University of Western Ontario and holds the CPA designation.
Nicole is a Prinicpal at Alphi Capital and is actively involved with the firm’s investing and portfolio company value creation activities.
Prior to joining Alphi, Nicole was a strategic finance and operations lead at Cohere, a prominent AI-focused technology company. Prior to that, she was an associate at Birch Hill from 2019 to 2021, where she worked on investments across the industrials and aviation space.
Nicole started her career as an investment banking analyst at Goldman Sachs in Toronto, where she worked on a number of M&A and capital markets transactions across diversified industries.
Nicole earned her Bachelor of Commerce from Queen’s University (First Class Honours).
Jeff is a Principal at Alphi Capital and is actively involved with the firm’s investing and portfolio company value creation activities.
Prior to joining Alphi, Jeff spent five years as the Chief Financial Officer at a private equity backed Canadian manufacturing business. Prior to that, he was a vice president at TorQuest Partners from 2017 to 2019 and senior associate at Onex Partners from 2015 to 2017, where he worked on investments across the industrials and aerospace space.
Jeff started his career as an investing banking analyst at Moelis & Company in Los Angeles, where he worked on a number of M&A and restructuring transactions across diversified industries.
Jeff received his Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering and Management from McMaster University.
Craig is a Vice President, Business Development at Alphi Capital, responsible for sourcing new investments and building industry relationships.
Prior to joining Alphi, Craig spent five years building and leading the business development team at MedSpa Partners, a consolidator of medical practices across North America. In this role Craig led all aspects of the deal cycle from initial contact to negotiating deal terms.
Craig started his career with roles at KPMG and George Weston in their respective strategy groups.
Craig holds an HBA (Honours) from the Ivey School of Business at Western University, where he was an Ivey Scholar.
Prior to founding Alphi, Thecla was a member of the investment team at Birch Hill Equity Partners, a leading Canadian mid-market private equity firm from 2004 to 2022 focused on investments in the consumer, healthcare and telecom industries. In the 12 years that Thecla was a Partner, she spent the last four as an Operating Partner and as CEO of one of the private equity firm’s portfolio companies leading its successful turnaround – both cultural and financial.
Prior to joining her former firm, Thecla worked on the start-up of Porter Airlines, was a consultant at Bain & Company and spent three years in the Chairman’s Office of George Weston Limited.
Thecla received her MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario where she graduated as an Ivey Scholar and her BA (Honours) from the University of Western Ontario.
Thecla serves on the board of Restaurant Brands International.
Simon is an Associate at Alphi and is actively involved with new deal screening, transaction execution, and portfolio company value creation.
Prior to joining Alphi, Simon was a Consultant at Bain & Company, primarily within the Private Equity Group. During his time at Bain, Simon was involved with commercial due diligence as well as corporate strategy projects across a variety of industries.
Simon started his career at Green For Life, working as a chemist executing process improvements in wastewater treatment and hazardous chemical handling.
Simon received his MBA from the Rotman School of Management and his Bachelor of Science, Chemistry and Physical Science, from the University of Toronto.
Mark is a Vice President, Operational Finance at Alphi Capital, where he focuses on driving financial excellence across the firm’s portfolio companies.
Before joining Alphi, Mark served as CFO for multiple private equity-backed businesses across Canada, the USA, and New Zealand, known for leading financial transformations and operational improvements, with a focus on data-driven insights. Mark started his career with KPMG’s audit practice.
Mark holds a Business Degree in Accounting and Commercial Law from Victoria University of Wellington and is a Chartered Accountant.
Nick is an Associate at Alphi Capital and is actively involved with new deal screening, transaction execution, and portfolio company value creation.
Prior to joining Alphi, Nick was an Associate at CPP Investments on the Private Equity Secondaries team. During his time at CPP, Nick was involved with several successful LP-led, GP-led and structured secondary transactions.
Nick started his career in investment banking at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in the Mergers & Acquisitions group.
Nick holds an HBA (Honours) from the Ivey Business School at Western University.

She serves as a Director at Queen’s University Smith School of Business Master of Management and Analytics program and Scale AI and is a selected Advisor to Canada’s Federal AI Strategy Task Force.
Previously, she led Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technology at Canadian Tire Corporation, advancing enterprise-wide AI enabled transformation at national scale.
Rob Chafee has helped grow and develop numerous small Canadian businesses as well as a significant investor in a vast array of individual private and public companies. He started his career in construction equipment sales where he became the top sales agent for Bobcat Loaders and excavators at Matthews Equipment in Toronto prior to its sale to Hertz Equipment Rental Corp.
Following this sale, he acquired and grew Skyway Canada from being a local construction equipment rental business focusing on scaffolding, shoring, and swing stage rentals to being the national leader in rentals, labour, and resource management. Skyway grew to well over 800 employees with a top roster of clients from construction, film, government, and oil & gas.
After successfully transitioning Skyway from a privately held firm to private equity he transitioned to battery recycling at Tonolli Canada. One of only two full-service lead acid battery recycling facilities remaining in Canada, Tonolli was to become the most environmentally friendly as well as lowest cost battery recycling facility in North America. Rob was able to merge Tonolli with Terrapure Environmental where he remains a meaningful shareholder and board member.
Mark Girvan is Chief Revenue Officer at Cin7, a global leader in inventory management software for small businesses across retail, e-commerce, manufacturing, and wholesale. A recognized growth operator, he brings deep expertise at the intersection of SaaS and scale-up execution. Mark is known for driving impact through GTM strategy, operational rigor, and cross-functional leadership.
Previously, he served as President and CRO at FreshBooks, where he helped scale the business and secure significant funding. Earlier in his career, he was VP of Sales and Field Operations at Varicent, acquired by IBM in 2012. Mark holds an Economics degree from Queen’s University and an MBA from Ivey Business School.
Rick Malhotra has almost 25 years experience helping companies use data and analytics to make better decisions. Most recently he has held leadership positions at Rogers Sports & Media, Integrate AI, and Facebook (Meta) and is currently a fractional data leader and advisor for several organizations in the sports, entertainment, education and wellness industries. Rick lives in Toronto with his wife and two daughters.

Elaine Shiu is an Advisory Board member of Alphi Capital. She was a founding team member and served as Partner, COO from 2022 to 2026, and continues to support the firm in an advisory capacity. Prior to joining Alphi, Elaine worked at Northleaf Capital Partners from 2004 to 2016 joining when the group was part of TD Capital. Elaine was involved in investment activities, business development, and investor relations. Earlier in her career, Elaine worked at AOL Time Warner in corporate development and partner marketing. She began her career as a management consultant at Bain & Company.
Elaine received her MBA and her HBA with distinction from the Richard Ivey School of Business at Western University.
Jeffrey Tory is a Partner at Pembroke and has been investing in North American growth stocks since joining in 1987. He joined the firm initially as an analyst under the tutelage of Ian Soutar and Scott Taylor, the founders of Pembroke and pioneers in growth stock investing.
Jeffrey has been a passionate supporter of entrepreneurial growth companies for almost 40 years, starting with his early career as a junior analyst at Burns Fry from 1982 to 1987 where he helped launch the small cap research product for the firm.
Jeff is a big believer in the importance of smaller companies as growth engines for the North American economy.
In his free time, Jeff sits on the investment committees of two foundations and is a guest lecturer in the Applied Investment Program at McGill University.
